three bits of silliness

One, two, three. I can see
Beetle right in front of me.
Thorax wiggle, makes me giggle,
he stops still, the branch I jiggle.
Want a pet, get my net,
capture makes the bug upset.
He bites back, nasty gnat,
makes me mad, I squash him flat.

There are poems about a summers day,
and odes to nightingales.
There's anthem sung for doomed youth,
and cautionary tales.
We've heard about an owl
and a cat that go to sea.
With all the topics written on,
what is left for me?

I wish that I could write a poem
that actually would rhyme.
With iambic meter, theme and just
one enjambment line.
I tried to write an epigram,
but didn't have the wit.
Happy dirges, bad haikus,
think I might just quit.
just a couple of quickies when I was in a silly mood

(smiling)... enjoyed this..and could see a book..of verses folloed in some way by a bit of commentary..that in itself was poem speaking to growth of understanding..or life..or the act of writing itself.
