Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-03-05 11:16 PM

In the midnight
Beneath the moonlight
She aches
She screams
She cries
Body wracking sobs crash through her.
A timid, helpless cry
Pours icily out her lips
"Help me" she softly calls.
Deafening desperation assults my ears.
Somewhere in this forest wild
I am needed.
Running, charging through the whipping branches
Swallowing up the darkness as her plea swallows me
I'm trying as hard as I can
But still I cannot find her
Her tears splash the ground
And the sound echos, pounds through my ears
The sounds are coming from everywhere
But everywhere I've searched!
Where could this desperate beauty be?
If only I could see!

Then one last cry
A strangling sound
And her body hits the ground
I can feel her limp body fall
I can feel it! The soft rumbling beneath my feet!
She MUST be quiveringly close!

But wait... Her breath.
I cannot hear her breath...

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

This is so sad. But I loved the poem.

Cold hands means a warm heart

Thank you loner. It is quite sad...But it was how I felt at the moment.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

KoKo,

I think you did well in describing her anguish and torment.

"If only I could see",  I think is the line that brings this together for me, from my viewpoint.

Often when that upset, I didn't/couldn't  figure out what the real source of pain was in myself, nor help myself at those points in time.

I really like this.

Hugs, Pat

An apt and creative portrayal of "Confused Anxiety"!*!

I am breathing a little bit faster now--I must center myself.....there, that's better!

Whew! Quite a ride!

Warm morning hugs,
Earth Angel
