Young man awakens to his mother's cry Old man awakens to see his young wife die The Reaper appears at my own hand Sending her above, leading me to be damned I awake in terror in the night The reality leaves me trembling with fright Who can tell me what it all means The life I live, the one in my dreams Night time haunts me with my own screams The house on the hill, Lizzy Borden's crime It was another life, yet I still do time I've lived this life free of sin and vice Judgement again, I must die, sacrifice Murder was done, I've paid now, some eighty years Cursed to remember till I cry a million tears When upon my bed I lay One nights peace is all I pray I'll continue to dream one more day [This message has been edited by Balladeer (03-31-2003 04:50 PM).] |

dreams  im always curious. The poem reminds me of a 60's film, black and white. Makes all the difference and i definately think there is an edge in there sumwhere. Comes together nicely though, although i find myself lost in the pictures more than the words, which is a good thing I think  You have any more like this? Id like to read them |

Thank you for the kind words. This was actually inspired by a guitarist in a band I was in discussing (in his drunken stupor) a dream he has about a house near us that, as legend has it, was the scene of a brutal murder and modern haunting. I'll see what I can come up with for you. |

Ringo, if I hadn't read your comment to the reply, I would have had no idea that these weren't your own personal dreams. You are a very amazing and talented poet.
