Dear so-and-so,

Please don’t try to change me
into something I cannot be.
Your projected pictured imagery
really does not fit me,
for I will never be
one you can prop up
onto a tidy little corner
of your mantelpiece.
Perhaps it’s best you seek
another heirloom treasure,
one more brilliantly polished,
or at least with more substantial
papered pedigree breeding.
I am just a mongrel,
one who can’t always identify
clear cut lines of
the who-what-when-where-how
source of my existence.

I like the idea of the mantlepiece. Some people search for love for all the wrong reasons.

I have never understood why they always want to change us. They accept us just the way we are, then after a while they start trying to change us. If we aren't what they want, then why don't they just leave us alone.

ha....so true....I would say my ex-boyfriend has lots of thing dis about me. Some of those he tried to accept, other he tried to change. But he tried too hard in love that he had no fun in it. I too had lots of thing dis him...so I guess it is good that we arent' friend at all now. Nice read.

(big hugggssssss) I can say I half-agree with the mongrel thing, dearest friend, in a physical context you certainly are strong and a warrior but emotionally, never so!
