I've sent several emails to my former coworkers..keeping in touch as no one else ever has (they all say they will keep in touch when they left but never did).

Everyone has emailed me back (even the Director of the Dept.) BUT my supervisor....she hasn't bothered to reply to my emails.

So what makes someone not reply to you via email? Isn't it common courtesy to do so? Maybe she hates me? (I'm beginning to think that's the case.)

I doubt she  hates you... Let's look at an alternative.  She's so busy trying to figure out how you did everything, she has no time to do anything else?...

LOL. I suspect that is, indeed, the case.

On the other hand, Sharon, your old supervisor may have recently changed ISP's and possibly has her whole email system in disarray (hint, hint). If so, you can be sure she's working on a solution and will probably get back to you in just a few more days.

She hired 3 people to replace me...one is already looking for another job and one went to lunch and never came back...Ok..she's busy...but the ISP? Nope....sent it to her work address...EVERYONE got it.

I'm a little hurt by it too...I did so much for her and supported her when others said bad things about her. Maybe she's always been rude and now her true colors are coming out?

If she was too busy to reply, then a quick "I'm in the middle of a crisis and will reply more later" would suffice!

Probably she's just really pissed that you left. Now she has to find a way to cover all the stuff you did.

Now let me see here, if your email went to the right place and she didn't answer then could be you are right, she is really not up to speed on her manners.  However, could be she is just plain busy and didn't answer until she could give it her complete attention.  (Most supervisory personnel would rather wait to do the job properly rather than give a make-shift response.)  I would bet my pail of ice cream that her idea of "soon" and yours are quite different.  In any event I would not assume the worst without asking for an explanation of her lack of response. If you get no answer to that - you were right all along, she is a jerk with no manners.

Karen and Sharon both nailed it.
LOL, maybe, maybe not.
Maybe, she hasn't even read it yet? I may have a stack of email I've forgotten about, so I hope it doesn't mean I am rude.
Sharon??? Mysteria? I HAVE received some from you and haven't even replied. I APOLOGIZE, but am working about 12hrs 6 days a week right now (for free, LOL) because it is show season for horseback riders. *sigh* I don't mean to be rude, but I too, am guilty of not replying.
So Ms DEVINE ONE, the non-reply does not necessarily mean she doesn't like you, or is that it a concsiously rude gesture. Then again? Both could be the case.

Kacy, you know me, what I send is not all that important.  If it is I say so in the subject line as in (Please Read.)  Delete them if you like, probably just that naughty Nancy Lee's jokes I bet - so not to worry.  You just have fun with Sarah and those horses, and send me a picture when you get time okay?

Kacy..some people we KNOW are busy...like you! And you don't have to apologize for what you're doing. My boss got her emails at work, everyone else at least wrote back to thank me for letting them know how things were going...everyone but her. So it's a different case altogether...

Maybe she's just lazy... I hardly ever read my e-mail, let alone respond to it, but then again I hardly ever use e-mail to communicate with my friends...

dear poet,
seems as if common courtesy is dying a slow death so, sadly. many people sadly are imbeciles about thanks yous, please, holding doors, and having the decency to acknowledge an email, very sad, you have my understanding and empathy here.
