Recently,  I was out of town on a job assignment
for about a week....I am clueless,  but something
changed dramatically during that period of time.
At least in my mind and perception...

PIP has always been a pleasurable place to me.  But
in recent days,  I have seen an increase in turmoil
and argument between poets through forums such as
this or others that I don't care to mention.

It bothers me to see so much going on in here that
is not healthy for any of us.  The internet is a
difficult place to communicate on.  It is very easy
to misconstrue or misunderstand a point made.  It
is easy to take something in a way that is not
intended.......WHY...  In my opinion,  the lack of
voice,  the lack of seeing one's face,  their body
language,  the glare or lack of glare from their
eyes...all of these are tools given to us that we
might more effectively communicate to others...

IMHO....to ensure we communicate correctly....I
recommend that we don't use this less than adequate
medium when the opportunity stands before us to
cause another person to misunderstand a remark,  to
take it personally AND retaliate by their use of
what is simply the desire to stay on top of the
situation,  not reach a halfway point that is an
agreeable situation....

I see so many comments that are comments to
comments to comments,  ad nauseum...and frankly,
it detracts heavily from my poetic warmth that I
felt before recent times....

And NO,  I am not leaving PIP.....I am still happy
to be here,  for I feel this place is top notch,
even on a bad day or week...

I just want some of you,  no names mentioned (or
even thought)  to read what I have written and
try to put things in perspective....it seems that
there is a lot less of that flying around here
recently than I have seen in quite some time....

Thanx,

Barry

I understand what you are saying, Barry, and agree with your uneasiness. My theory would not be welcome but, like you, I hope PIP comes to resemble its former self...peace.

I absolutely agree with you, dearest Barry. This last week has been, honestly, perhaps the most uneasiest week in my 162 weeks here at Passions.

If you noticed in the Feelings forum, I posted a thread titled "Thoughts on Passions Poets Leaving" as Aenimal's "Exeunt" response inspired me to write out, and I was hoping that it wouldn't echo beyond those three who left Passions, but it did seem to echo all throughout The Alley, and for that Passions remains the most special place of all to me, but it just seems to be more shakier than usual right now.

Let's hope starting now everything tames out again, yay!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Barry:
I applaud your thoughtful intuition regarding the general feelings floating in our happy blue home.
Each of us has come together to share in our art, and because this particular forum is the way it is...we share much more...
There is friendship, sometimes to the point of a sibling rivalry at times...
We are adults, and as such we have an opportunity to make our surroundings reflective of the positive, the nurturing, the freedom that we all want to enjoy.
Groups of any kind have these problems, and wise men and women are not offended by what they do not understand...they simply accept that there are differences and shine all the brighter what is the same.
Hugs to you dear man, for coming forth with these strong feelings, and know that we all support the higher mind and bigger heart.
TD

PIP doesn't seem very different to me lately, but I haven't been a member for that long. Is it stuff going on in the discussion rooms that you're referring to? Because if that's the case, isn't the point of those particular rooms to be able to discuss/argue about different topics/issues? I read a few topics and couldn't see any major conflict, aside from a few differences in opinion, which you'll find anywhere. Just curious...

2write....I guess it is a threshold that
each of us has...what one preceives as
nothing more than discussion can be taken as
turmoil to another...  there are those of us
who look at things differently from others.
Is one more correct than the other?  I guess
it would depend on what the majority felt.

I saw things which bothered me,  things that
I felt I had not seen nearly as much in past
months.  Sometimes your gut says things to
you that others may not see/feel.  That was
what I had been experiencing...  I do
appreciate your input and thoughts...

Thank You....

Yes, you're right...everyone has his/her own perception of a discussion, and since that is the case, there normally isn't a right or wrong. What the majority thinks doesn't even make it right or wrong, because people most often follow other people rather than following themselves and their gut feeling. Power in numbers aye? Maybe in the future, when u read in the discussion rooms, don't take offense to what people write. Just realise that some people are more open and critical than others--but they probably don't mean to offend. I know there are loads of people out there who are very sensitive to most, if not all issues written and discussed...but if people can't say good and bad things about topics, there is no point in discussing anything, is there? That's what I find fun about reading discussions--the often conflicting views. They spice things up a bit. Try looking at it that way--maybe it'll help.

2write....thanx again,  you have a valid
point,  and I do try to apply that filter
when reading comments...though there are
times that exceed my personal limit, and I..
like yourself,  and others as well....have
the right to express feelings and opinions
freely...so long as they don't offend..

Sadly,  sometimes there is a very thin line
between what is OK and what is taken
offensively...  hard to know what is and
what is not.

Thanx for stopping in,  and from where in TX?  That is my home state...  England is
a long long way from Texas...
