Who wrote those guidelines?

They are the most stupid thing I have ever read.
This is my last post as ALL of my work is about drugs or suicide. Of course meaning that I can not post anything. I go now to find some other place that doesn't have such an American attitude.

I suggest that whoever came out with those frankly ignorant guidelines takes the time to read "Rhyme Of An Ancient Mariner" or anything by Dylan Thomas or Slyvia Platt.

When you signed up to this place you agreed to the guidelines. Don't complain about things you willingly agreed to.

I have read lots of poems by you that didn't have anything to do with death or drugs, and I liked them very much. I don't think you should stop posting just because ONE of your poems was considered unacceptable.
You have alot of talent and I enjoy reading your poems very much, other people have had this happen to them and they didn't leave piptalk in a huff they apologized for not reading the guidlines close enough, I think you should lose some of your pride and keep posting.

Gah...relax. I've had a number of my own posts pulled for explicit content and the like.

I just post my milder stuff here and keep the rest to myself.

You seem to forget you're just a guest in this house. It's quite normal, when you visit someone's home, to go along with the rules set by the owner. Nothing wrong with that.
No need for scolding or calling names.
It's a very immature behaviour your showing here.

If you only want to write about drugs and suicide, well maybe this is just the wrong place for you to be.

Interesting that you choose to assault a concept you dislike without even asking for the explanation behind them.

I have seen homes that smoke and drink. That was never allowed in the home in which I was raised. The analogy applies here. For, in case you didn't notice, this is a family. There are things in this family we just don't do. Like my dad said, "If you don't like my rules get your own place."

However, I do hope you reconsider. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Those stupid and ignorant guidelines were written by the fellow who pays for the site that you can post in for nothing. I wish someone could explain to me why people like you have to throw nationalities into your complaints...nobody's keeping you here. Get lost if you don't like it.

It's a pretty simple equation...

People who post here are happy here + People who aren't happy here don't post here = I think maybe you're swimming against the tide on this one...

Interesting, when I read the guidelines I thought them to be rather fair and reasonable.  Oh'well your loss.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner had nothing to do with drugs....

...and really - is Sylvia's end something to emulate??? Nothing against her work, however, I rather like her poetry...but please - don't romanticise suicide hey?

And honestly - get over yourself. Rules are rules, live with it.

Anything by Dylan Thomas?

“Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

I might be missing something but this doesn’t strike me as a particularly apt anthem for the suicidal.

The guidelines of this website are relaxed, indeed. Maybe you should try this site...
www.everypoet.com

...and compare guidelines. I am sure you will find that you have it good here at piptalk.

SIDELINE NOTE: Opeth that site nearly caused me to have spasms! Flashing banners that 'attack' the eyes. I couldn't make it past page two!

As for the rant against Ron's home, I think you may enjoy Artists Corner (if it still exists.)  You can say and do just about anything there. But be prepared, go get your coat of armor on, you will get lots of flames and BS comments. And as for the American thing? Why do you have to throw nationality differences at us? We are more alike than different. Join the free world. Ron has a right to set this place up as he chooses, and you are always free to leave, or stay, as long as you respect his house rules. This isn't a hand slap, but a gentle reminder that we all have rules to follow, like it or not.

Although I know you are jesting, Marshalzu, I do believe that there is an element of truth to that assertion for many people of many nationalities and races. It is a similar chip on the shoulder that a coworker has toward the English for starving our Irish ancestors in the supposed famine of the 1800's. Her chip is so huge that she can't even stand to hear an English accent. Or the chip carried by some who are demanding monetary reparations from today's taxpayers for slavery, despite the fact that for most of us our ancestors didn't own slaves, nor condone the practice. Maybe a bit of historical research should be done to trace the ancestry of the wealthy who did own slaves and go after their wealthy descendents for reparations, and leave the rest of us alone. That would seem fair to me.

I think those chips come at quite a cost to the carrier of them, first and foremost, but also to the rest of us who become the objects of their inevitable wrath.

I will never understand why people feel the need to insult someone or something before they turn and walk away. Maybe to get attention that they feel they needed and didnt receive before then. Its kind of like slapping someone the face just to see what they will do.

drugs and suicide?  niice.  topics that everyone and mtv has slobbered all over and thrown aside.

i think they were the movies of last week.

i won't say the rest because everyone already has.

Of course it seems pointless replying to this thread as the author of it has decided to leave us.
It does seem strange to me that an author would limit him/herself to two subjects,
drugs and suicide. These are subjects that should not be ignored but should not at the same time be glorified. I am not saying that the person who originated this poem did this, i haven't read any of their poems, but as most of them were pulled, I wouldn't have a change to. This is not an issue of censorship, its one of protection for the younger members at this site. Ron has designed this as a family site, we have adult forums for more edgier posts.
I am sure Ron is familar with the works of Plath and Thomas. Even closer to home a lot of poets here have posted poems about such topics as drugs and suicide, as Brad said, and have not had their posts pulled. Maybe you need to readdress how you handle these topics.
