Because it just booted my boyfriend Liam off. He has the suckiest internet I know. Every couple of months he is kicked off the internet for a whole freaking day and can't get back on. And it upsets you. What would you do if your internet did this to you so I can give some suggestions to Liam? Thank You!!!!!!! Cold hands means a warm heart |

Well why don't you suggest that he check with his ISP (Internet Service Provider) to see why he loses the connection for an entire day. If they can't give him any answers, my small suggestions as I'm not all that technologically minded (heh): Does he restart his computer once it happens? Has he run scandisk and defrag lately? Etc. What kind of connection does he have - if it's 56k, they're slow anyway, and subject to disconnecting sometimes. Though usually you can get back on. You know though, if this is happening only once every couple of months, in my honest opinion I'm wondering why this is such a crisis? It's not nice to be disconnected from someone, but surely there are other things you could do while you wait for his connection to come back...if you don't focus on it so much, but have other things to do, then it will make it easier when you can't get in touch with him. I have a suggestion for your boyfriend. There are a host of free service providers in Canada that use a dial up. Provided that Liam lives in an area serviced by one (meaning he won't have to pay a long distance charge for his computer to dial in to a server, he can have an alternative (at least for a brief amount of time) way to log onto the internet. Even if his connection is a highspeed (cable or dsl thru the phoneline) he can use this alternative.... as long as he has a fax modem.... and they don't cost an arm and a leg either if he needs to go buy one. They are usually about 25-50 dollars (Canadian) and they install in less than 15 minutes.... that is taking into consideration log off time, openning up the tower, installing the card, closing the tower, connecting the phone cord (both ends) and booting back up, logging back on. I suggest trying www.netzero.com Sherry |

if my only reason for hating the internet was because it kept cutting me off, i might start liking it again |

I suggest meeting your boyfriend in person. If that isn't possible, you could write him a letter and then when the Internet is again available, you could tell him that a letter is on the way. There is life outside the Internet. Good luck to yourself and Liam. |

I lose connection loads of times and its either to do with my computer or the internet connection. I live with it. But I used to have a connection that did the same thing so I just switched it with another ISP. If your afraid of the dark, then why did you come? |
