ROTFL. Sorry, but I am being slowly...no rapidly, eaten alive by fierce frenetic friggin flying bloodsuckers! LOL, it is summer in the Interior, and that means every time the sun hides, the skeeters come out to play. Oh, I do love those bright, bright, sun shiny days! Sunshine, Oh sweet Karilea, can't you please increase your intensity to help save me? |

Curious...is there a West Indies virus "alert" in your area, as well? Hmmm... for some reason? THAT THOUGHT REALLY BOTHERS ME.... |

Viruses, as in real live things in the human bloodstream, and not the PC? I don't know maybe it's just visitors virus, yanno, shipbaord Princes cruise crud? The skeeters are worse than usual, and I'm feeling ill today, so are three others I know, similar symtoms, just since Saturday. And bug bites on top of bug bites!!!!!! |

West Nile virus is a mosquito born virus that is lethal to birds, esp. the corvids (crows and the like). Can infect humans but may have no symptoms in healthy folks. Can be dangerous, possibly lethal, in those already ill or weak for other reasons. We are keeping an eye out here for dead and dying birds. Spreading west from New York. |

Hahaha.. I'm not sure what is going on anymore. First I hear about the West Indies virus and I'm 99% West Indian. Father from Trinidad. Mother for Barbados. Then I hear that there is a virus coming from NY which is where I was born.. It is heading to the South which is where I'm living. I'm getting outta here. LOL Oh and as far as the mosquito issue. Atleast you don't live in TX and the view from your balconey is.... Swamp!!!! BIG MOSQUITOES!!! I really think that they talk to me. Can someone please pass me the bug spray? lol Balladeer, a little help over here too plz, sir. *Don't forget that wine* Love, Ladycat Live in my world just once and you'll find yourself enraptured. grinning here, Ladycat--you mean you can sit on your balcony without being eaten alive? Swamp...slap me five sister! My home is located parkside--a little "park" called "Cypress Park"! Flying bugs abound! It's a toss up between the mosquitoes, termites and roaches this time of year...and damn it's hot, ain't it? |

*sigh* My parents live in the south, and are trying to get me to move there...and? I think after reading this thread, I just won't. lol I never get bitten by mosquitoes up here, ever! I rarely see them. I hate roaches - AH - they're...brrrbbbbrrrr...I had to have my grandaddy save me years ago from one when I was visiting? I swear it was as big as my head. They don't get much bigger than a penny up here...and you have to be damn nasty filthy to have them in your home. It's not like in the south when you have to build a spare bedroom and set an extra plate at the table, they're so common. And with that...*goes tip-toeing out the house, looking for many-legged creatures* brbbrrrrrbbbrrr! |

We don't get mosquitoes much here - unless someone's pool goes stagnant...but we do have sewer roaches the size of city buses. |

ROTFLMAO these replies in this thread are so funny!!!! Roaches! Disgusting creatures, maybe more so than the skeeters and the flies. And in Florida the Palmettos bugs I saw are a kissin cousin to the roach YUCK! and they are as big as your hand, and will sass you back in a heartbeat! At least the ones in Tallahassee were nothing to mess with when I lived there 16 years ago. Who started this goofy thread, anyway? uh oh, teehee maybe me? Karen, you can keep your southern bugs, I remember the Nawlins and ole Miss skeeters, and the Texas ones I met were B52 bombers (WWII for those of you under age posters) |

I've heard you've skeeters the size of bi-planes up there. We have them damn near year round as well as wasps, red ants and killer bees. Even idyllic settings come with a price I guess. "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

Geesh! Get a life! Afraid of a bug. Terrified by a roach? SPARE ME!!!! What if you had to come up against a creature 5000 times bigger than you that wants to do nothing more than kill you, step on you, splatter your guts all over the floor. That's what roaches and bugs face every day...and yet WE are the scared ones. If roaches knew that, we wouldn't have to kill them - they would die laughing!! GET REAL! All they can do is scurry in and out of corners and rotted wood...no tv, no "Rocky" movies, no Martha Stewart recipes, no fat-burning manuals.....and yet WE hate THEM! People, people, people.....if ugliness were a reason to hate, Christopher would never get a date! Be kind and charitable to our 6 and 8 legged friends....they have a hard life, too. Kiss a bug today Oh, Ladycat...... |
