Romney won!

Given what's at stake, given that I just don't believe anything Romney says, given that Romney is not a good choice, I am deeply unhappy.

What is at stake is the future of the country as we know it. It's good that Romney won. Hopefully it will continue.

Hello everyone! Being an old friend of serenity blaze's, I have often heard her question the sanity of anyone who would wish to apply for the job of President of the United States.

After viewing President Obama's lack of enthusiasm, I tend to wonder if she isn't correct about that, for it could be argued that one would have to be, at the very least, naive, to um, assume such a position.

So I am here as her spokesperson to volunteer that perhaps our President has gone sane, and is actually trying to lose the election by...not trying.

After all, no matter who wins, somebody is going to have be the mean Daddy and raise taxes in the next term.

Serenity said to say "hey ya'll" too, and sends her hugs and warm wishes.

love,

Penny Lane

is too colorblind to know his place

I am not sure it is a great statement for Romney that people are so surprised that he showed some solidity for once.  And did he do so because he usually shows solidity when left more to his own devices, or because he wasn't left more to his own devices by undergoing excessive training and preparation for an over-hyped television-spectacle?

Why, hello Moonbeam! I have a prepared statement, but before I start I'd like to say that I caught both of your shows in August--the second one was the most AMAZING show of moonbeam I've ever encountered and I applaud the choice of the "unplugged" set, although it was a bit uncomfortable, the ambiance was perfection. *applause*

Now, ahem: Karen said that she did indeed consider running for the presidency, but withdrew when Roseanne Barr entered the race.   She appreciates all the love and support she was received, but at this point in time, she simply does not wish to tax herself.

Tax...herself.

Get it? *nudge-winkie-nudge*

Oh that woman is a riot...

By title, "Lady" should be capitalized according to rules of grammar--in this case, it  is only polite to address me by my given name, "Lady", as it is my given name, and thus a proper noun, indeed.

Now. Do I stutter?

Drat.

Oh Rob, I am too slow to try to pull a fast one.

I just lost my password when I killed yet another laptop. And instead of bothering Ron again, I just registered again (using the same email that the system didn't acknowledge before.)

I just missed everyone--but if I was traded to Humble Pie for fifty bucks and a case of Heinekin--I guess I'll just go to Morocco.

Just tell Rolling Stone that every word was true, although written with a bit of hyperbole.

Well that's ok then   I'm glad it's you and that you haven't decided on an online sex and nationality change.  I really did think you might be David (japanesewind) and Karen for one moment, though I must admit "Highgate Cemetery" didn't sound like one of your poems.  But really it was quite a coincidence me using the word "stutter" in my reply on that poem (which was in fact quite a lovely poem I thought), and then you asking me if you stuttered within 24 hours.

Anyway, it's nice to see you again - things are getting quite lively over at the Table, Doreen is being vivacious as usual, Bob is being kind and wise, Craig is on a sabbatical, Jeffrey is being Jeffrey, lol, and all the others are being nice and annoying in varying degrees, lol.  Main thing is though, and this is what I love about it, we seem to be able to work things out between us so that everyone can say what they want, how they want, in the same forum, without any really terminal arguments.  That's what it's always been about really, for me.

Be good!

Hey, moonbeam, just as a point of information that you can take or leave, I had a Yandex app put on my firefox browser, which has been quite reliable for checking out sites with regards to security issues and I got this message when trying to access algonquinstable..

Well Mike

I've been a member at:
http://www.algonquinstable.net/index.php

for a long while now, ever since Critical Analysis closed.  As I know have many other ex-Piptalk members who wanted a bit more than the Open Forum here (no offence intended).

I use Firefox (although without that App)and have never had this problem, but I will check with Admin and other members at AT.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes it's a little weird Mike, I loaded the Yandex app, or at least I hope I loaded the right one, there were quite a few, but I haven't had that message yet.  Anyway, Admin at AT are checking it out so hopefully the cause might be found.

Thanks again.

WOT seems to work on the basis of member/user ratings.  Even piptalk's confidence rating is "low".
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/piptalk.com

I suppose it relies on people actually providing ratings.  Unqualified people?!  And if nobody provides ratings then I guess it doesn't get a high rating.

But what do I know.

Most European countries calculate and report unemployment in two ways:

People eligible to work but claiming benefit

People unemployed but seeking work

The first is how individual US states generally measure and report unemployment, the second is how the US government measures and reports unemployment.

The question as to which is the best is dependent on what you’re trying to measure but the international standard for comparison by country is the second of the two.
