Susanne L. King The Boston Globe Mass. healthcare reform is failing us By Susanne L. King March 2, 2009 MASSACHUSETTS HAS been lauded for its healthcare reform, but the program is a failure. Created solely to achieve universal insurance coverage, the plan does not even begin to address the other essential components of a successful healthcare system. What would such a system provide? The prestigious Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academy of Sciences, has defined five criteria for healthcare reform. Coverage should be: universal, not tied to a job, affordable for individuals and families, affordable for society, and it should provide access to high-quality care for everyone. The state's plan flunks on all counts. http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2009/03/02/mass_healthcare_reform_is_failing_us/ What's worse than the government running health care? Not much..... |

quote: LOL. I agree completely! As citizens of America, I don't think we should be satisfied with anything less than guaranteed immortality. Just living longer and better is an obvious and dismal failure. Talk to Nan, Mike. She'll tell you all about MA health care. |

Well, she may tell me about a personal positive experience with it. For that matter, there are certainly stories from others who would have very negative experiences. For that matter, there are folks who claim that our present health care system has been wonderful for them and shouldn't be changed. Personal experiences are just that....personal. |

Mitt Romney still sticks by his Mass Heath plan, though I haven't heard a lot of good things about it. Romney likes the fact that he partners with private insurance companies. I guess it takes a real private businessman to know how to make the public sector suffer unnecessarily at the hands of a cartel and still feel great about it. http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/romney_health_insurance/2009/09/21/262644.html |
