That memo certainly does show a bias in the way they approach news coverage. It's like...here's what we want you to say....now find a way to do that. 'Course, maybe this is what "hypocracy" really is. |

Apparently it runs even deeper than that. * YouTube: The Live Desk With Martha MacCallum: November 9, 2006: Segment (Runs 3:10) * According to this segment, MacCallum claimed without providing any details or sources that there were "some reports of cheering in the streets on the behalf of the supporters of the insurgency in Iraq, that they’re very pleased with the way things are going here and also with the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld." Next, she asks guest Erick Stakelbeck, a terrorism analyst for CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), "What does the Democratic leadership mean for the war on terror?" who answers by suggesting Palestinians were telling Americans to vote Democratic, but doesn't not refer to any Iraqi insurgents celebrating a Democratic victory. Moreover, later on in the program beyond the excerpt provided, she claims on her "A-List" segment that Democrats don't want the U.S. government to be able to listen to terrorists' phone calls, and then has an interview with John Gibson who claims that lifting habeas corpus was not something over which people should engage in "heavy breathing." It's really interesting on a wider note in that this is far from the first time an internal memo has heavily influenced the partisan tone and rhetoric of the Fox News pundits in whole. "Outfoxed" by Robert Greenwald, a documentary which points out the various biases in the network's programming, reveals numerous other internal memos that did just likewise.
