I love art . . .
I drive an 89 Bonneville.
I wear a torn field jacket that I ” liberated” 35 years ago.
I have lived when recently unemployed for nearly 2 years
on less then $3.00 of potatoes a day.
Yet I love art.
I just bid $2,000 on a portrait, to me, reminiscent of Vermeer.
My father is rolling in his grave.
I am going to Hell.
Yet I love art.
I am mad.
So be it then.
I will smoke cigarettes as well.
At least I won’t have to look far for a light.

Let your father roll...

when you have a good eye,
you have a good eye.

Feed it...

for it feeds the soul.

Brava!

Then even in my madness I wax poetic,
which was unintentional.

Paul Valery once wrote that beauty is that
which without effort lifts man above his
common nature.  It is extraordinary for me
to have that experience.  Yet, I think
the capacity resides in us all.

I will probably not win the piece;
it is too beautiful not to be noticed,
yet to briefly have the possibility
is a spiritual pleasure.

The ape looks up and dreams of more
than the jungle.

then I am equally as mad,
for often spending grocery money
on books and photography

we don't starve ourselves,
by any definition

good luck on the bidding

Congratulations on obtaining that piece of art. We were always told we had to also feed our souls!  martyjo
