“Bradbury thinks the dwindling interest in space travel needs to be rejuvenated by sending astronauts back to the moon. "We should never have left the moon," he said. "We should go back now. It should be the base for going back to Mars."” http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,139393,00.html Mars? I think the idea that we send astronauts to Mars, (at an estimated one trillion dollar expense), one of the dumbest. How do you justify the expense and effort in view of what machines are and will be capable of in the future? |

![]() I have no problem at all with the desire to make space exploration possible. I too long to learn far more about the solar system and the galaxies beyond our reach like many astronomers and astrologists dare to dream. The fact is, great things require time and patience to make possible. Sadly we had the Columbia tragedy, which I think was significantly damaging to the overall morale of NASA and faith in recent programs, which like the Challenger disaster sent shock waves across every community, and I think out of this domino effect there grows surging impatience and lack of finesse in the work environment. Michelangelo said, "Genius is eternal patience". I have faith eventually we can reach beyond many's wildest imaginations and touch all kinds of new frontiers and stars in the sky, but we've got to spend appropriately and responsibly and see we don't overreach the funding now like we do to the military budget and affect other basic virtues of life. We must take it one step at a time, one bold step. Sincerely, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |
