An incident has been caught on tape. In it, an American officer speaking to an audience of Marines says: “Let me repeat again what the General said. If you have to run any chances what so ever to get a prisoner, then don’t get him!” The Marines respond with a low laugh that suggests they know what that officer means. What disciplinary action should that officer and the general face? |

On the basis of that account alone, I would say no discipline is warranted. I think you are presupposing that the statement was wrongful without considering the possibility that, under certain circumstances, such a statement could be excused. Jim |

None. All military are trained to kill. Its the older men that send them to kill who should face disciplinary action. |

Everything that led up to that incident in the Fallujah mosque is part of what happens when you decide as a nation to go to war. Let's not single out this Marine and distance ourselves from him. Every American bears responsibility for what is done in our name. |
