I was sitting at the computer
and my husband walked in the door
He was holding his suits
from the cleaners
as he hung them in the closet
i heard him laughing

I said.."Why are you laughing"

He said "The man in the cleaners
asked me if i was a mortician"

"A mortician...Why?
I could see if your suits were black
but they are blue and gray"

He said "Now I understand why he asked me"

Pinned to the top suit were memorials
from three funerals my husband
had attended.

More funerals than weddings I attend
not baptisms but the rites where this life ends
point of view's we're upright and attend
