Tale 54 Ho, Miss, 'twill tarry for a bit? I'd swear I ken yer face. Ye move like creatures o' the wild- Such delicacy an' grace... Aye, I wou' vow we met before- But when? Ah, 'tis to ponder... For many ports ha' seen me mug- Aye, I've been known to wander. 'Elen? Wou' tha' be the name? Ye favor 'er o' Troy... Before the canny Greeks di' coom- Wi' famous equine ploy. Or, Venus? Aye, 'twould fit ye well- A goddess, I believe- To think tha' ye shou' cross me path, On this damp, chilly eve. Ah, lass, a pity I'm no swell- To sweep ye off yer feet... An' bear ye off, wi' me to dwell... Where sky and mountains meet. But I'm a wolf...no lap dog, me- I must be on me trail- But faith ye are a sight to see! So goes the Traveler's Tale. |
