It's as though the Irish winds
of time and history
are interwoven
with my own lineage,
my own genealogy.
I hear the brave voices
of the saints and martyrs
whose blood was spilled
to win fair Erin's freedoms.
I hear the Celtic Word
spread far and wide
as it is written in the pages
of the Lindisfarne Gospels.
I see the time-weathered
stones of Murlough Bay
and I hear the sea's call upon
a saintly voyager named Brendan.

And, it's as though these Irish winds
have borne my heart upon their wings
and transported me to an Irish Day
golden and new: yet ancent and wise
clothed in the simple light
of its Celtic heritage, of its Irish truths.

Ivy Rose - nicely written about your heritage. It's always interested me to go back and trace the family...

Wow this is terrific and I could just hear this read aloud with an Irish brogue, I know one man that speaks like that and I adore it. floria

Lovely. Did you see my request for Irish Poems? This is a nice coincidence if not.

Glad that I found this at the top.  That's where it belongs today and any day.
