A Distant Ring When we speak on the phone now, topics are not stained in sepia-toned nostalgia, of beach days when I was the better body surfer, or that day when you could finally outrun me. Instead, we speak through thickened air, of your latest find in sugar-free fudgesicles, on the challenges of dining out with diabetes; and of the permanent hangover from the drug meant to interfere with your chronic liver disease. I feel guilt crawling up from my toes. I let too much time pass between calls. I don’t like to see the future without you, Brother. © 2002 Corinne Bailey |

This is powerfully sad....time goes by so quickly and I have no idea how things change so fast. Well done. ~sky I'm in charge, and I say question authority! |

(sigh) This is sad but true, sweet friend, time does have a tendency to slip by quickly and I would give anything to spend it with those I love most of all and never have to fear this again! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Corinne - a most powerful write. Done with passion inside, just written with a love that can be felt when reading this... BC |
