The Dancers

In the center of our praise the dancers lie,
Exhausted yet fulfilled from their dance gone by.
The power of the audience has had their say.
Now mounts the excitement to perform another day.

The shoes are polished off and set aside.
The frilly dresses hung undignified.
And cream is layed upon the made up face,
Until there is not left a tiny trace.

Then with the beginning of a brand new day.
They awake to practice there's no time for play.
With deep determination they rise and dress.
A great need for acceptance is what they possess.

Now mounts the excitement to perform another day.
The power of the audience has had their say.
Exhausted yet fulfilled from their dance gone by.
In the center of our praise the dancers lie.

Enjoyed this.  Nice portrait of the concerted efforts of a dance or performance...dancers need their audience!

Floria...Your imagery is so vivid, that I could just see those dancers relaxing in the audience's praise, after the show.
Very lovely

aren't we all performers in a way?

I use to take ballet as a child..I performed as a Moonbeam and Poison Ivy...kind of funny when I think of those two personalities and how I am today..*s
Nicely written

YAY!!! (whistles and throws up roses on the stage as the curtain call is made and you bow) This is wonderful, sweet friend, what a funny coincidence because next Thursday I'm going to be at a Shakespeare festival to perform Leonato in "Much Ado About Nothing" and I'm going to break a leg, whatever that means! LOL! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderfully delightful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Floria, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Floria

I feel that it must be a thrill...the music, the build up of anticipation, the fear, the exhaultation.  I would love to have been a dancer...I expect it is a bit like writing poetry, but in motion.  Lovely poem!
