Listening to every heart

The poetry reader

He kick-started spring as easily
as bringing the bike from the shed,
a clean towel softly wiping away
winter’s metaphor of
thoughts that had laid dormant,

then lifting a leg easily over stretches
of truth that brought his audience
into reality, he tricked us,

and zoomed into summer on a
burly Honda.

His soft-spoken voice was beefy with
depth, and he carried his Pulitzer-prize winning
words gently, as if scattering seeds
so that someone else might later pick up
the fruit, eat, and then discard
future seeds

for future winds to carry up in
tornadic flurry,
flinging about new thoughts
as if from the apple of knowledge,

that someone might eat,
then spit out words
that someone will hear, and lead to that
one who will pick it up, that hybrid
notion,
to etch in stone.

Karilea~
Much to enjoy in this one~

'spit out words
that someone will hear, and lead to that
one who will pick it up, that hybrid
notion,
to etch in stone.'

Love the thought ... sort of a 'Johnny Appleseed' kinda dude~

Kari darling sister of my heart this is utterly utterly delightful you’ve written an absolute diamond here. The thought behind this is wonderful and the concept absolutely divine. YOUR words will spring renewal in many hearts.

Truly excellent writing, which I enjoyed tremendously. Well done

Hey Sunshine!

I was sitting right next to you, hanging on Dunn's every word, glad to be in the same room and breathing the same air as a Pulitzer Prize winner. The next day, I'm still not able to say anything but "Wow!"

"Wow!" to your terrific poem.  It describes the experience nicely.  What a treat!
