trails of blood and tears
permanently etched
she grieves them release
and watches as they dry
indelibly carved
in stone
fingertips bloodied
she stopped not
each day traversing
or dodging the stones
from before

one day her fingers toward
heaven she sent flying
now each day begins
clean slated
she accepts forgiveness
and forget
becomes her
