All That You Give

There is no way I can resist you.
I hear your soothing voice
Calling my name in soft tones
Your words envelop and calm
And I can feel my heart melt
You can reassure my worries
You chase my fears and doubt
I hear the love your voice holds
And it makes me smile
Because you show me what
Happiness truly is for the first time.
I never thought someone could
Open my heart so completely
You know all my hopes and wants
All my fears and all my worries
You know the demons that chase
And live inside my soul and dreams
For the first time, in you I find
Someone who won’t run away
Instead you stand strong and wait
With open arms to shelter me
And give me the strength I need
To help me find my way to
A better life, a better world
Now when my tears start to fall
They are full of the love and peace
That you so unselfishly give.

This, of course, is for my Dave.
