Tie a knot in the tube, a nasty deed
a woman wants not to bear, shall conceive?
from the time of Plinius, there were such designs
how the fairer sex would put limits to her chimes.

Remember all the devices that go back to chivalry
Metalic girdles made it difficult for rivalry,
in ancient times they devised worm remedies you wouldn't believe,
attached to a woman's navel and she would not conceive!

Worms they said could be extracted from spider guts
the lady in question would not be left in a rut,
what about the cure that had the lady spit in a frog's mouth
were there real people who thought this remedy had more clout!

Birth control, the pill and ways to limit conception
societal pressures the meek: thou shalt create no deception,
from the times of Plinius there were audacious ways to control fertility
some women of antiquity actually believed they had supernatural abilities!

An interesting topic, Martin and very well written too!
And maybe now, you should write a poem about vasectomies

BRAVO!!! This is indeed an interesting topic to ponder over, sweet friend, it too always intrigues e how throughout history our views on fertility have changed drastically! (big hugggssssss) This is wonderfully thought-provoking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
