It's A Quiet Night To Cry

The day was every bit the same as any other
She spent the hours resting in imagination of him and her
And, on the winds she whispered wishes for the two of them
Wondering if there was even the smallest chance that he heard...

For what seemed eternity to the heart but only a second in time
Were the paths through nature they endlessly climbed
Not a hill nor a mountain too steep to get up
For, their strength was renewed just resting on love...

She liked taking him to small waters of pastel shades
Shallow enough to walk hand in hand to the other side
She leads him to the uneven grounds where nature sings louder
To that sound of water brushing over rocks on it's awesome ride...

They stood looking over sweetly flowing pure rivers beneath
Roamed the woodlands as far as the eyes could see
They claimed the home of the biggest oak to swing with the breeze
Then gave way to the sunset about to dance through the trees...

At last darkness hung like the worlds blanket overhead
And, she lies there with reality now knocking on her door
Brought back by the sigh of disappointment that the dreaming is over
She realizes he's not within her presence anymore...

Cause sundown brings fears of a complete new mile
The truth to alone that she's known quite awhile
Reality finds her feeling the sadness when he is away
So, with her breath of courage she tries to find him like the day...

It sure felt good to be free she says to herself
She's just holding on until the sun shines again
The ghosts of the past own dusk until sunrise
Oh, it's a quiet night to cry, once more, for him...

You describe very well the only kind of night I am aware of.

Thank you for the perspective.

I like this, the rythm, imagery, soft and quiet.  Enjoyed.

Beautiful and sad, Saunni.
This reminds me of how I felt after my first husband died.   ~hugs~

Saunni,
Wow...the yearning in the heart of this. I've known this only in part and that was enough. Very well done. I can't imagine this emotion you connected your words to so well is from experience. Excellent write.

Saunni, sometimes I wish I could stay in my dreams, but others I can't wait to get out.  This one was a beautiful dream.  At least you had that.  May it all get easier for you.  Good work,  ME

took me a few minutes for me to wipe the tears from my eyes...

Pure and haunting... till a few years ago you described every night  and every daydream.

I absolutely adore your clarity and style...and the vivid picture you painted of love lost but never forgotten.

Love Light and Peace, and big hugs,

Sherry

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.
