Morning Woods

Sun weaving through the morning woods
lights up the forest floor
swaths of gold and shadows green
nature's own decor

scarlet passions, daybreak glow
spirits newly formed
burnished light of morning sun
embrace the day, newborn

creatures stir awake from sleep
eyes open to first light
shaking off the slumberdust
behold the joyous sight

with each new day, some dreams are born
and others face demise
unwinding nature's cosmic clock
each day, a fresh surprise

A wondrous cast of gold sunlight
a leaf'in through limbs of green
and words of such great delight
to warm one as sun's beam...

Victoria...thanks so much for your reply...
I love sunrises and sunsets.
This evening as we were returning from Ann Arbor, there was the most gorgeous sunset I've ever seen....I am trying to think of some poetic words to describe it...but I can think of none which would do it justice.

Floria...thanks for your reply...
I actually wrote this poem last summer, on an unusual morning when I was actually awake early enough to see the sunrise.
The snow WAS gone, but it came back again for a visit today.
We drove to Ann Arbor in it and on the way, we saw about 30 cars which had skidded off the road into ditches or onto the median.
One car had come from the right lane eastbound and skidded all the way across 3 lanes, across the median and ended up in the extreme right lane of the westbound side of the highway...facing the wrong way.
Fortunately, it looked as if no one got hurt.
On the way home, the snow had stopped and there was a beautiful sunset.
I don't think the snow ever disappears in Michigan.  I have actually seen it snow on Mother's Day. ~hugs~

Lyra,
How you refresh my soul! You aren't by chance a camper? Thank you for this wonderful display of nature.

Thanks Larry...
I am happy to have refreshed your soul...
But a camper...I am not!
The closest I have ever come to camping is when we used to have a 36 ft sailboat and we would sail around Lake Michigan...and spend our nights on the boat...
but of course we had a shower and hot and cold running water, electricity, a coffee maker and a nice comfortable bed....and...I could use my hairdryer...LOL
Thanks for your reply

Hello Madame Chipmunk

Your words were nothing short of stunning as you painted such a beautiful picture with your tanelted pen.  I know you got this picture through webshots as I have this one also and it compliments your words perfectly.  I am often inspired to write poems form the pictures at webshots and it would have to be one of my favourite sites.

Take care......Sue

Thanks much for your reply, Sue...
I really love that website also and some of the pictures on it have actually been inspirations for some of my poems.
I think that half of the fun is putting the pictures and poems together.
