Beyond the light of distant fire
a thousand stand to fight
Born of need for freedom’s desire
in fear of certain plight.

Beyond the hill behind the moon
in glow of softest light
a maiden sways in heart of swoon
from kiss of bravest knight

A feast of foul and pig and goat
to be for most last meal
Wood steps to cross watery moat
though some the moat will steal.

A bed of straw to break the cold
of ground so hard and cruel
A sleepless fear from dreams will hold
the gut so tight from gruel

Upon the break of dawn in light
the flame of fire now dead
A trumpet call shall wake the knight
from warmth of straw of bed

A charge will cause the roar to fall
upon the ears for miles
As maids do cry upon the wall
the reaper laughs and smiles.
Mushy...I know you are going to utterly hate me
for this one....sorry, I could not help myself!

Barry!  What lines!

The smell of turf and seashore breeze
trembles the maiden's very knees
the pounding surf and fearsome roar
as waves come pounding to the shore!

Each Knight is dressed for battle ready
each horse quavers 'though held steady
each heart is sure of triumph's meet!
and Sun arises, a war to greet...

Now why should Marsha not
delight in this epic of
the Knight? I would take
yet another when you mind
the time, Master Magnus...

Magnus darling boy, didn’t I warn you, Hmmm?  You cannot say you weren’t warned that you’d get bonked on the head if you produced another utterly utterly splendiferous poem. So g’vnor yer aint gonna pertest ewen in’cent nah ar’ ya because darling boy you are far from innocent aren’t you? Mmm you know it. This is deliberate provocation isn’t it? I ask you can you not expect retribution? You knew it was coming

The room is dark the night is still
Magnus sits with hand on quill
Behind him creeping without a sound
Marsha steps across the ground
The pale moonlight gilds his face
Marsha’s heartbeat speeds up a pace
Her breath is hushed from her lips
She flexes again her fingertips
Watch out Magnus do you see her yet?
She’ll cover you with her magic net
Don’t struggle Magnus its too late
Bonked you’re caught that’s your fate

You asked for it darling heart. Yes it’s brilliant and that’s why you’ve been bonked on the head. My trick I think darling boy. Your move

Love and warm stuff
As always
