"A Handful of Dreams"

When you get to the good part
and sweat drips down the mast
an alarm call breaks the storyline
The best endings fade so fast.

You're stuck with broken promises
And can't complete the scene.
All you ever really wanted
Was a handful of dreams

Goldenrod and poppies sway, your
hair reflects in shiny shoulders
A lover pulled into tight embrace
Magellan hands getting bolder.

But time is all-wrong here
no sunlight to this day
Molten desire turns to angst
When this dream is burnt away

And all you ever wanted in life
Was a handful of sweet dreams
You can't live with broken promises
Things are never as they seem.

Bummer!  Life's disappointments can be so devastating...and this certainly aches of the sentiment.

May your muse find a more beautiful day ahead!!

Well done and take care!

Kat, afternoon!  How be ya today?  I wrote this over a year ago, as a series
of songs.  The repetitive verse is the chorus.  So often i write of things that
happen to others, or fictional others, but just wanted to tell both you

and Floria:  thank you!  Life is good.  I have no complaints.  Just a song,
perhaps that everybody feels at some time or another.  Y'all are waaaaay too
kind to worry, tho.  ~happy sigh~  nice to be worried about, ya know?  *s*

Jeff darling boy this is utterly spectacular writing, this has some of the best lines I’ve ever seen

A lover pulled into tight embrace
Magellan hands getting bolder.

And all you ever wanted in life
Was a handful of sweet dreams
You can't live with broken promises
Things are never as they seem.

Have you any idea how superior these lines are? I love the cohesion of this, the total connectivity of it is awesome. None of us can be all we can if we feel disconnected I really love this. The flow is utterly utterly perfect. As always darling boy your writing shines. Truly this is one of your utter best. Absolutely perfectly divine writing

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Jeff, this is sooooo beautiful but sad too, sweet friend, it too always saddens me to see dreams longing to come true be delayed and then they are like yellow roses dropped to the ground and forsaken before their time does come! (sigh) This is emotionally powerful, sweet friend, I love this song, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yes, I can see that this would make a gorgeous song. Did you ever put a tune to it? I sure hope so. Will I hear it on the radio anytime soon?

I agree with Tracey, Jeff...this would make a beautiful song...and there is so much truth in your lines.

And all you ever wanted in life
Was a handful of sweet dreams
You can't live with broken promises
Things are never as they seem.

Unfortunately, some of us find this out too late.

Beautifully written, Jeff

no words ever so well expressed
my friend...this is a wonderfully
written poem with much thought...
go for your dreams is what i say
just make sure they are realistic.
take care.

My friends, please excuse my lack of response.  My computer processor
ate itself (had a darn fine meal of it, too).  I hope, somehow, you will see
that i didn't ignore you intentionally.  Forgive my lack of technical manners
and thank you very very much for your kind response to my song.
