The Flower Children

Flower children
war protests were sadly jilted
flower children
bloody riots failed to still them
now their leaves are slightly wilted
and they wear their blossoms tilted

Barry and Karilea...thanks so much for your replies.....but.......
You are both wrong!
I am a grandmother......of 9 yr old and an 8 yr old.
I graduated from college in 1965...okay, so I was the youngest one in my class...
but I am still old enough to have written this poem without consulting the history books.
During the summer of Woodstock and the first voyage to the moon...I had my first baby...and I wasn't an unwed teenager...I had been married for 4 years.
Hey...I bet I am older than both of you are...
not older than both of you, put together...but older than each of you.
lots of hugs to both of you kids!

I was recently called an "aging hippie leftwing free-love has-been." Can you believe it? I replied to that person that they were an "underaged self-centered never-will-be." And then I told him he should be careful what he says to a double Scorpio. LOL. I remember flowers, and danced in tie-dyed rainbows more than once at 60's and 70's Grateful Dead concerts. And I still love that peace sign. and I still believe in flower power and rainbows. Thanks for giving me a smile today.

Thanks for the reply, Kacy...my friend and fellow flower child....I remember almost getting arrested at a peace rally and wearing tye dyed clothes, torn blue jeans and a peace sign on a chain around my neck.

My dear first husband wanted to so badly to go to Woodstock but I was 9 months pregnant and my doctor said...ABSOLUTELY NOT...
and its a good thing we didn't go...or our first child would have been born there.
May peace be with you... ~hugs~

I lived it!  However those that say I still do, so of course all I have to say, is "this was hip!", you diggin it?  I have lots of tales from those days, but that is another poem.
