This mosaic of me
lies in the lap
of Whistler’s mother
content

Some say
in certain light
there are resemblances
of Venus on the half shell
with a Madonna smile
in asexual warmth
without lipstick

Small bits of recluse
lie about here and there
like some origami Picasso
looking out of only one eye
My thinking disguise

Slivers of Degas riddle
in smooth deliberate hues
of gray scale barrier
that only a dancer
could enhance
Some foreign notion
brushing through my veins

My ears are plaster
and frescoed to ceiling
of the Sistine Chapel
in acoustic rapture
of both worlds
doubly parallel
Music and art
Heaven and earth

In the sombre edges
I float at times
pale and pristine
in chain linked thought
as Ophelia whose malaise
was Millais
I picture not
the few I’ve had
nor the few that had me
The chill just comes
as bumps remembering texture

The center of me soft
as wafting lilies
perfectly Monet
in fresh essence
of practically blind
but determined
to show as much beauty
as I possibly can

and in small shapes
of time and placement
there are vibrant reds
where I bleed forth
to a Waterhouse sea
and let go of reality

While a larger part of me
is becoming Before a mirror
in Browning fashion
as age makes me
more comfortable
with who I am

I don’t find myself
as a single work of art
or anything original
I am completely unfinished
I am simply small dots up close
Perhaps a big picture far away

Well at least from Phoenix I see a great perspective of you with many thanks to the words you give. I like what I see no matter the dots per inch.

I would like to think this all started in a candlelit bubblebath Regina   , for this is absolutely the best poem I think I have ever been totally absorbed into!  There is nothing in the world I love more than art and standing back in an art gallery looking at a piece and wondering how the dots did connect to become a masterpiece.  Well...you truly created your own masterpiece in this one, for it was simply an exquisite piece of poetry, (my favorite of yours now), and this one made it to the special section in the book I keep of poetry from the poets at Passions (JM's to De Vante is in there twice LOL, in case I loose it!) I should have emailed all this, but too late now and I wanted you to know that the thought, effort, and outcome of this piece went straight "into" me!  Good grief girl this was fabulous to say the very least.

psst...I would say you are about as finished as one can get, and you have it all, frame included!  You are such a super sweetie, kind and handy too even - how's the reno going?  How's about an update   Boy, I sure wished you could have come to Nan's - your darn boss anyway

I especially liked how you ended this.
Such a pretty picture you painted.
I wonder if anyone is ever truly
finished or connects the last dot.
A frame is just a frame, it is more about the artistic touch and true colors she works with.

Just Beautiful~

Finally!  I finally get back to this...

"and in small shapes
of time and placement

where I bleed forth
to a Waterhouse sea
and let go of reality

While a larger part of me

in Browning fashion

I am simply small dots up close
Perhaps a big picture far away"

perhaps...just perhaps this is one of the best poems I have seen from you, ever....it is a Classic, and it is a Keeper!
