Upon the hill of vale below
a brook of pure in crystal flow
Above the crest of mountain high
A slayer stands in watch of eye.

A man of steel, of blood and bone
a man of heart, and soul alone.
In search of Drag to fight and slay
each morning break, each dawning day.

A heart of gold for maid so fair
of auburn locks and softest hair
Of eyes so dark and mystic too
A beauty born in search of two.

A dragon’s eye does spy the maid
as from the lair dark wings are splayed
To swoop upon the beauty in flight
most certain to spurn on the fight.

A scream born of most outright fear
heard loud above all from far and near
The warrior rides into the gloom
in fear of loss and certain doom.

A steed and man spurred by beauty
in hectic flight of sworn duty
answer cries of maiden’s shrill voice
for damsel’s fight is by love’s choice

The lance thrown true finding the mark
as Drag does fall beyond the dark
Young maiden’s life again is spared
and ‘pon the steed love pure is shared.

Magnus darling boy this is outstanding writing, as always you excel at whatever you write. Fabulous writing and this is so descriptive so vivid in its image of the knight the maiden the dragon and the landscape. Like a master painter you’ve sketched in the outlines and filled the canvas with vibrant life.

Utterly utterly wonderful writing YOU darling boy never disappoint. Wonderful absolutely perfect poetry

This is beautiful Magnus I like how you draw upon your imagination to write, I do that a lot and people are always thinking it is about me and most times it is not..this is truly a good, interesting read. Well written. floria

Probably one of the better romance poems of the Dark Ages I have seen in a while.  Seems to me you have found your nitch...work it well, your blade will hang from it beautifully...

Hello Barry

Such an enchanting story you have weaved for us here from your magical tapestry of words. Romance and adoration shines as I felt myself being swept back to a time long ago.
You do these type of poems so very well and they make me swoon every time.

Take care......Sue
