Poetry Duet—A Sonnet

“It's time to reach out to a friend,”
          A lonely voice inside me gently cried.
Donne’s truth --"No man is an island."
          I wondered if the good voice lied.

“I will trust truth; overcome doubt;”
          The voice inside prompted me to shout!
My mind then did a complete roundabout.
          Would the nagging fear come inside out?

A trustworthy friend reached out to me,
          In quiet, gentle, and tender beauty,
To set my turbulent spirit free,
          In soothing, rhapsodical harmony.

No greater gift than peace of mind.
          This peace, together, we would find.
