You look at me distastefully I'm sure you wish I wasn't there Do you realise how much you belittle me Every time you point and stare? Do you tell your children I'm dangerous That I'm nothing more than scum Or do you see me as an embarrassment Just another useless bum? You think that you can judge me By the exterior of my being If you bothered to look any further You would see that I too have feelings My life has been anything but easy I wasn't as fortunate as you I have no husband or no children And no house to go home to Do you think I like it here On a bench out in the cold With nobody to talk to And no arms for me to hold? The highlight of my day Is when the pigeons grace the skies I take pleasure in their company Unlike you they don't surmise So next time you visit the city Please don't point and stare at me Just reward me with a smile And accept this person I've come to be Suetang |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sue, this is sooooo very sad, it always breaks my heart to see people that are more fortunate with their wealth always picking on those who are less fortunate! (big hugggssssss) My heart goes out to all these people and I pray with all my heart that everyone can offer these people more charity and have the place in their heart to help them all! This is sad but wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Very beautiful Sue...yes...there are many who are judged by the cover of their book, not by the content of it...and that is sad in itself... It happens to all of us... Those of us less handsome or beautiful, or not as smart or funny...and a myriad of other thoughts.... You expressed this well... |

Suetang... Very touching and, sadly, very true. Sometimes we forget that there are so many people in the world that aren't as fortunate as us, and I'm always grateful for what I do have. Thanks for reminding me. Bec "Poetry and Hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get you. And all you can do is to go where they can find you." |

Awww Sue....having worked in a large city/downtown for over 20 years, I have seen the visual-abuse firsthand, and it disgusts me also. I can only guess that your disdain for people without any feeling whatsoever prompted you to write this exceptional piece of condemnation! Great job! Sue this seems to be the night for social justice issues and thank goodness our words are being printed. Thank you. If we do not speak of wrongs, they will never be righted and the world will continue to slide downward. "Just reward me with a smile And accept this person I've come to be" Hmmm...I wonder how many of us can do this consistently? Beautiful poem. Hugs, Marti " My wrinkles are badges of courage and reveal that I am a Mother." |

those with no choices, or those that made the wrong choices, I feel for...but some choose that way, and I don't feel for them at all...I think it's terrible, a waste of a good life that God gave. This is a nice version of the feelings of the one who had no choice. |

BRAVO! Thank you for having a big enough heart to speak for them. The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. |

Oh Sue, the plumbing shop I work out of is across the street from a homeless shelter. I see so many faces who have no one. Your poem so hit home. A great write. I feel such pity. A smile they should have. Your friend always, Roger |

Sue, you have an amazing ability to observe the everyday and make it spectacular and alive with warmth. Keth Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
