This poem I wrote for Lucky she is a Red Eared Slider, a turtle hatchling that I found last Monday. The turtle experts tell me not to put it in a pond because most likely is not her habitat and it will die. So now I have a new 1 inch baby.
She loves to eat chicken, when they are babies they are carnivorous then as they grow older they are vegetarians.

I was born in the shallow
waters of Florida
Danger consumated my days
as I struggle to survive
a tiny hatchling
prey to everyone
Then out of nowhere
I was taken as I basked
on a rock
by a bird or who knows what
I slipped from it's claws
I dropped many feet to the ground
and landed in an alley
ending my dreams of growing old
in my pond
I crawled my way to a sunny place
where I waited for death
Then someone found me
picked me up thinking I was a toy
And that it's how I found my new home
Where the only threat
are two little human hands
that want to play with me
all day

I wish I'd find a turtle! And a baby one, at that...how cool, walker. Pretty soon you're gonna be able to charge admission to that zoo of yours.
I know Lucky will have many happy years with ya'll. Just don't let the gator eat him, ok?

aww a baby turtle! I like frogs, but turtles are cool too! You're taking a break from love poems I see!

(smiles) Awwwwwww, this is sooooooo cute, sweet friend, I'm so happy you found a new pet, it sounds like such a sweet and adorable baby turtle!
