Communication breakdown

I thought we were forever
My heart soared with the knowledge
That I wouldn’t be alone anymore
I saw my future in your heart
My life inside your beautiful eyes

Slowly things began to change
Small things, so subtle at first
Barely noticeable in our enthusiasm
In our need of the love we discovered
But the seed was planted, and it grew

As time crawled passed slowly
The words seem to fade away
Conversations were fleeting
We hung on, not wanting to let go.
Not wanting to leave our created world

We tried not to see what our hearts did
What our souls already knew so well
Through the veil that hung so heavy
Our communication breakdown
As we pulled and hid inside ourselves

I have to point out quickly that this is not about Dave and I.We are fine and completely happy

Geeze Tara, don't DO that to me! Wow... now that my heart has resumed its normal pace... phew. I was worried there. Excellent poem! Wow!
