I walk these streets alone at night No longer do I feel the cold But the thing I mostly crave Are two arms for me to hold I've lived this miserable life For the past three years Now my make up doesn't hide My sadness and my tears As a teenager I was pretty With my whole life ahead of me Now my friends fail to recognise This person I've come to be I pushed them all away As they tried to shelter me from harm A constant reminder of my stubbornness Are these needlemarks in my arm Back then I was invincible No one could tell me what to do But in the stillness of the night It is my friends I reach out to But they cannot hear my cries In the middle of the night As I search around helplessly Trying to find my guiding light The men who come to use me They're only good for my next fix As they pay me many dollars To perform their sordid tricks I lie empty on the bed After they've had their way with me And wonder if they have a daughter Who'd be the same age as me? Now I stand on these stilettos And walk this godforesaken place As I'm dreaming of a better life A lonely tear travels down my face Suetang |

Sue, Okay...you know how to make me uncomfortable. But such tragedy exists. Well done. Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself. Leo Tolstoy |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sue, this is so very sad, sweet friend, my heart goes out to you and your tears and I pray with all my heart that now you surrounded by many that love you, just as we all do so so much! (kiss on cheek) My heart goes out to you, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Sue, you did a beautiful job with this sordid tale. You made it seem so real. What a great job of a very sad situation. floria Floria "Alas for those that never sing, But die with all their music in them" (Oliver Wendell Holmes) [This message has been edited by strbbux (03-13-2002 09:37 PM).] |

You did an excellent job of depicting the lonely and empty road bad decisions like this have on far too many young people. It is a cold world out there when you are on the outside having made a bad choice. Extremely well done Sue, I certainly commend you for taking on a challenging topic and doing it well. The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. |

Sue - this is a wonderful piece of work which made me count my blessings. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |
