Courtesy avoids
groping hearts
lash out blindly
and
defense
takes over purpose
egos build warrior walls
around overprotected fires
shoulders go dark and cool
as heads
meant for face to face bodies
rest in hands instead.
wounded tongues sharpen their swords
on glowering stones of competition.
Communication breakdown
stalking hand in hand prey
sinister triumph of an old enemy
less brittle souls
have quivered beneath its touch.

"My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words
Of that tongue’s uttering, yet I know the sound:" "Romeo and Juliet"

Siofra,

This is definitely a communication breakdown.  Sounds like you have firsthand experience.  At least, that's my guess.  Challenge very well met.

Morning star, still kiss the dawn

A powerful write for such a "little person."

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Micheal,
perhaps..   thanks for reading.

Interloper,

unsheath their swords for trouble
mouths drop in silence

hmm...just the fighter in me bragging, Sir. She's just as tough as any brutish man.
