Haven

My eyes struggle to see
What they cannot find.
The lingering feelings
Of dread and horror
The dream that is waiting
On the edge to become
Reality instead of a
Forgotten wing of time

My eyes try to focus
Sort through the shadows.

Or maybe they don’t
Try hard enough
Afraid to finally see
What they cannot
Fearing what answers
Might be discovered

Maybe my eyes are closed
To the knocking future
Not wanting to let the
Past memories enter
Disrupting the safe haven
That I so desperately cling to

Maybe I’m a coward
Too scared to stand.

It’s easier to run.
To let the few scenes
That replay over and over
Live in the shadows
With the rest of the
Unseen places I’ve only
Briefly visited, then fled
Holding tight to sanity
As I run so fast
Pushing so hard and deep.
Hiding the one place
I know I have to discover
… and own.

(sigh) This is very emotionally powerful, sweet friend, may you discover joy and hope in these places in your heart and forever find a haven of light to forever rest comfortly in with love! Tara - Very good. We sometimes have to deal with our past in order for us to have a future, but that is easier said then done. I hope you find the courage very soon to do just that.
