My Dad Lives In Heaven and My Mom Lives In Miami

My Dad lives in heaven
and my Mom lives in Miami
his neighborhood is chilly
but her's is warm and clammy

my Dad lives in a cloud
all rich and puffy white
Mom's in an apartment
at eleventh story height

oh how I miss them both
I haven't seen them for a while
I often hear Mom's voice by phone
but Dad can't seem to dial

last night I know I saw him
he spoke to me out loud
he told me he wrote poetry
while resting in that cloud

he told me that he loved me
and kept me in his sight
he said he was proud of the poems I wrote
and then we kissed goodnight

I know he really touched me
with his eyes of hazel green
I woke up feeling different
this wasn't just a dream

Dads my inspiration
I'll always keep his love with me
he taught me to love writing
and that love has set me free

Thanks much for your reply, Noah...
My Dad taught me to love words when I was just a little girl.
Instead of a bedtime story, we would talk about words...how to spell them, what they meant, how to use them etc.
My Dad always had a love of words and he passed that love on to me.

I know this feeling well...although mine never taught me writing, it is his warmth that I hold inside encouraging me to express myself...and my Mom just moved from Florida a few months ago...

Laura, this is wonderful. Yes, I understand about Dads. Mine bought me a complete set of Encyclopedias, Book of Knowledge, when I was six, and encouraged me to love and search for truth about everything. First reading scripture and then other sources of knowledge. Although my parents separated shortly thereafter, I'm still pursuing his lead. Both of my parents are now with God in the clouds. But I often feel Dad's power and strength within me. He founded an organization for  ministers suffering from broken families. Pastors, men and women from over 100 churches now belong.

Thank you everyone for replying to my poem.
Unfortunately, last week was a busy nightmare week for me and I didn't even get back here...so now I am trying to play catch up.
I normally would have thanked each of you, personally...but I am still going through treatment and will be doing so for the next 6 weeks.  During this period, I will try to be here as often as possible.
Love you all   hugggsss to all!

Karilea...thanks for your reply...
You really must have my Dad's number...
He used to love to go fishing...
He never caught anything though.  He just used to love the relaxation of it and enjoy the beauty of the scenery around him.  I went fishing with him one time when I was about 7 yrs old...and I think he caught a fish but said that my mom would kill him if he ever brought it home...so he threw it back.  I bet our Dads are together...like you said....fishing in heaven.

Nan...thanks for your reply....here are some tissues to wipe away your tears...
My Dad really did write poetry and he is the one who got me to love words the way I do.
