Please don't let me fall in love. Don't let me hurt again. I am a fool to Cupid's tools- His arrows bring such pain. You say my words effect your heart- But you could never know... Each gentle word you write to me- Does strike my heart a blow. A fool, you say; and so I am- But still my soul can feel... My melancholy words of love, Thought trite, are very real. So write, my darling, I will read- But I shall not respond... To do so, gives birth to my tears... And makes a tighter bond. Don't break the shell that I have formed- Protective barricade... Defense so fragile, by love stormed- Too often, low is laid. |
