( retourne- a variation of the kyrielle--
repetition of lines and last verse is
reversal of first verse.)

A Mothers Love

A mothers work is never done.
Her day begins at rise of sun.
There is no time for her to play.
Till dark of night is on its way.

Her day begins at rise of sun.
And does not stop till all is done.
She works for love of family.
A mothers love so pure and free.

There is no time for her to play.
She does not waste her time away.
She's dedicated as can be.
And cherished by her family.

Till dark of night is on its way.
There is notime for her to play.
Her day begins at rise of sun.
A mothers work is never done.

floria,
That's how I recall it. Exhausting just to think about. Thanks for a reminder of how much I appreciate my mother and the mothers of our children! Nice technique and poetry.

Floria - What a great poem about Mom's.  Really liked the format as well.  I know I love and respect my Mom very much.  Actually, I am glad I am a guy because I am too lazy to be a Mom.lol

This is the perfect poem for that style, Floria, because "a mother's work is never done" and it literally goes round and round like that, just like your poem does.
I have never heard of that style before but it reminds me of a villanelle.
I loved the poem.

Really enjoyed this strbbux, it's a nice form. A fresh weaving dealing with an old adage.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
