A spray of salt wash covers me from crashing waves of souls A veil of moisture from the sea as bell of life now tolls. A life in touch with destiny of man and sea and sail Crying of voice to once set fee in times of watery flail. A wave will wash from land to land this bott’ of glass and note as fish of prey do take a hand from life’s rubbery boat In sight of land the eye is not in heat of hottest day the swell of tongue from briny salt takes not the thirst away Blue sea has now the best of me to feed the fish of late For days of hope were dashed, you see once I became the bait. As stars do guide the way of men in search of distant shore The briny deep will take them in for want of nevermore [This message has been edited by Magnus (03-09-2002 07:08 AM).] |

This reminded me off all those who have ever been lost at sea, and the agonies they endure, nicely done! |

Magnus hi there, I could hear the crash of the ocean and smell the ozone in the air, this is very picturesque write. You certainly have a great deal of ability to paint word pictures and you do it as mum would say utterly brilliantly. This is a very good poem And don’t listen to my mum she loves having me share her computer, it gives her such a heaven sent opportunity to see me, *big smile* Love and warm stuff As always Krissy And while thy willing soul transpiers |

So many thoughts come crashing in, so for now, I will say thank you, and come back again tomorrow, to see if the sun shines over this as well as the night winds set the seas to shimmering... |

Magnus - I read this two ways. One of a sailor whose life became lost to the perils of the sea. The other was as a metaphor for a man who has given up hope of finding what he is looking for and wants nothing more but to be put out of his misery, so he can end his hopeless search. Well, something like that. Either way, you have crafted a fine poem here. Dave |

Dave....you were right on your first assumption. It is of a person/persons in a raft afloat on the ocean....knowing that life is lost.. eventually sinking into the deep to be consumed by the food chain so to speak... Reminds me of the USS Annapolis sinking and the story that goes with it... Also of the countless sailors who have died in search of other lands, treasures, etc.... Let the imagination roll on this one... Thanx for your review and thoughts... Barry |
