Come Into My Room We first moved into that room, as the other would shake and sound like the tractor trailers were going to crash into it, even though we were on the second floor. Wallpapered in delicate burgundy roses on cream background. My homemade curtains and quilted coverlet to match. Even a canopy at one time, always creatively challenging me... just like the love we shared. It's been so long since I slept in my own room, that room I use to share for twenty-two of the last twenty-three years. I remember the first waterbed and how it moved each night during our passionate loving. How we progressed from double to queen and just as we changed to a king, you changed your feelings towards me... the size now allowing each to sleep entirely without touching. We exchanged that last waterbed for a firm mattress, as firm as your resistance had become towards me. So I abandoned that room, the night you abandoned me, and until now, have only entered when searching for something needed. Today I straightened out the furniture, touching where your prints still showed through the dust that has gathered over time. I find inside the tall chest, reminders of you, cologne in an Avon antique car, and with it the small dollhouse bottle that had been a housewarming gift to me, you know, the little white house and picket fence cliche. There was also a small pistol from when you served in VietNam, your dog tags and military ID. Ties were in the next drawer, many I had chosen as gifts over the years to go with your clear blue eyes. I always loved you in a suit. In the bottom drawer, you left behind a sweater, a favorite of mine from when we first met, a V-neck wool. So long ago, when you were gone, a friend of yours wore it when taking me out. Said he was protecting me, while you were away, overseas. Wore it so I could feel close to you. Today, I stroked it gently with my hand, lifted it to my cheek, bringing back the soft memories of you. I shall sleep once again, in that king sized bed, stretched out, bordered by memories, as you come into my room tonight. Using the beds to show the stages of feelings was an excellent way of conveying the loss, and I enjoyed this very much. ~* Without deep reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people ." *~ |

Maureen, this is sad, but such beautiful words...and so many feelings tied into this poem, the room, the bed, all of his things...so many memories to lie beside you. |

Victoria, well it's always sad to see a relationship end. I loved the king because I could position myself in any direction on the bed. *s hugssss M Newell, Thank you for reading me today hugsssss back M Mysteria, thank you ..I hadn't really thought of it that way and yet that was actually how it worked out in my life..there must be a message here somewhere *s Barry, sad and truthful, was going to add some more..like the one mismatched sock I found left under the vanity desk.. oh I have 32 years of memories so far..including the last few bad years..but they aren't so bad anymore..they have become routine, allowing the good memories to resurface finally as they did in a way today. Thank You, M Noah, well thanks, but there will be no loves for me for a while anyway..need to remove one from my life first *s hugssss M |

was meant to be a sigher maybe..not a tear jerker..darnnnnnnn I could really jerk the tears if I gave my life story from the beginning..it was a fairytale love...just somehow didn't end happily ever after..although 30 some years is a long time... thanks Michael, M |

M, So glad I didn't miss this poem. For all its sadness I like best that you are, in fact, moving on. I am so very impressed by that. Let the healing begin. I look forward to the day when love once again captures your sensitive heart! Just an awesome job on this poem. Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself. Larry, sadness, truth...I have given alot of thought to my "predicament" and realize there are many mistakes I have made in dealing with this situation. One is I must relieve myself of all that impedes my progress...so I am cleaning house, so to speak. And as for loving again..it's time I just love myself for who and what I am and not look for its chancing upon me again. You may see a few more poems that will seem sad as I come across the memories while cleaning up my life...But be assured..they are just memories leaving me with a slightly crooked smile, an upraised eyebrow and a renewed energy. hugsssss and thanks *s M [This message has been edited by nakdthoughts (03-10-2002 09:23 AM).] |
