~* Given To Fly *~ A Fairytale ~*~ For Jake ~*~ © Mysteria 07/03/2001 ~* Play Moongate by Secret Garden *~ I came across a a little gaffer exploring in the woods, doing what little boys do best, things I never quite understood. He dug for some worms, then he caught a dandy ladybug, then suddenly he let it go with the cutest little shrug. In one back pocket, he kept his collector’s jar real handy, In the other was a good supply of Grandma’s peppermint candy. What a sight he was, both knees all covered with mud and dirt, I could see he was having fun, this adorable little squirt. He had a bag he lugged along with so many special leaves. He was about to do something ‘cause he pushed back his sleeves. I hid behind a tree, as he carefully took a look around, and I was ever so careful not to make a sound. He brought out the jar from his pocket but I couldn’t see, so carefully I crept closer hoping he wouldn't see me. He was talking to something he had in that sealer jar, but I couldn’t see what was in it he was just too far. I moved a little closer, and held my breath at what I saw, inside his jar was a tiny fairy; I just stood there in complete awe. He was telling her he was sorry for keeping her so long, and he hoped he had fixed her wing, and now it was really strong. He told her to fly away but to please look for him some day. He would love to play with her again, and the other fae. She thanked him for his kindness, and she shed a tiny tear, Kissing him on the cheek, she said, “Goodbye Jake my dear.” She was so very tiny but I saw her flying away, I heard her say as she waved, “I’ll visit you one fine day.” I stood there in amazement, could all this be true? Did I really see a fairy bid a little boy adieu? I came from behind the tree and startled Jake a bit, not as much as what I saw shocked me I must admit. He had tears running down his cheeks, and was so very sad. I tried to console him and instill in him what he had. I said, “Jake, I don’t think too many boys have fairies for a friend.” I could see a smile appearing, and I knew his heart was on the mend. I asked him, “ How did you happen to befriend a little fairy?” He said, “Well, I found her over there in that blackberry.” “I got her out, took her home, and gave her Grandma’s chicken soup, I made her a little matchbox bed, and in there she did recoup. One day, she jumped out of the box and then began to fly, I cried, but no one saw, 'cause I knew it was time for our goodbye.” I told him he was a special little boy to be so very kind, And that he and the fairy’s hearts were now surely intertwined. He hugged me and thanked me for being there today, But he had to get home to his Grandma, so he went on his way. I look for Jake and the little fairy in the forest to this very day, hoping to rekindle the magic in my heart that never goes away. For if you believe in fairies and the magic that they bring, your soul will be full of love, and your heart will always sing. Honestly, Sharon, this is precious! I enjoyed reading it...to myself. I do have a few wee little friends that might enjoy this, especially if I give them a small bottle with some leaves, and then wave my magic wand......Thanks for the smiles and fantasy fun. |

I am glad you enjoyed this one for Jake. I do these quite quickly actually but not correctly LOL. My audience is usually a 4 year old, and until she can correct me I get away with it. I like t see a picture and just run away with it! My granddaughter is only 4 this July and loves to rhyme words, and we shoot them out loud while we are walking, like ... "MAT", she says, "CAT", and then...I say, "Is there somethere there on that mat? I believe it is the neighbour's cat! That kind of thing, then it's her turn. I am sure no Kit or Balladeer, but I love rhymes. Oh dear, rambling, but thank you all muches. p.s. I don't like being #13 on comments, anyone else feel that way, lol ~* Without deep reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people ." *~ Einstein [This message has been edited by Mysteria (03-08-2002 02:18 PM).] |

May I borrow this to share with a grandchild or two? If nothing else, it will show them that a Mysteria believes in the faes, as should we all, when we want a smile. Well done, Mysteria! I would seriously think of sharing this one beyond the blue walls. |

Geesh - Here I was figuring that I'd have to loan Sandra and Jake an alias to comment, because she's not registered... But NO... What do they do??.. They just click on "Reply"... (at their house).. Et Voila... Guess what - There was my name with cookies intact - They've got it under control... I guess I've posted from there once or twice, eh??? I think you made my team a little happy today, Sharon... Thank you again.. |

Sandy and Jake ~ How wonderful for you to get in here and say you liked it. Jake, I saw pictures of you from your Grandma, and I thought that boy looked like you (the blonde hair I guess), and what your Grandma told me of you, I just knew you had the heart that would let a fairy free - so glad you liked it Jake. Sandy, we have lots to talk about when I come for I too believe in the never ending circle and the triads of knowledge, so we shall talk about how you see them, it's simple once you know how Thanks again for taking the time to comment on it, I truly do appreciate it. Magnus ~ We all need a good fairytale once in awhile, I am so glad you enjoyed this one. Soleil Noir ~ Thank you for that comment, nothing could have warmed my heart more than anyone thinking it was even good enough for sharing beyond these pages, and to share mine with your grandchildren makes me Thank you. Martie ~ I am thrilled you read it, thank you. Nan ~ The apple never falls far from the tree, so where there is a will there is a way! Again, thanks to everyone for giving me the courage to post more of my stories, I love doing these, and hope you will enjoy them. ~* Without deep reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people ." *~ |

Hi y'all (is that right) LOL, well I am always doing fairytales for little girls as I have one granddaughter almost 4 and another learing about her surroundings of 4 months. I've saved them to make a little book sooner or later. I am glad you like them I have done them for every age, as this book will be given to them when they are over 18 to let them know that fairytales are for a lifetime not just for children. You can make a fairytale out of anything, try it! Thanks for your lovely comments. The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. |
