Discovering flesh for profits sake To rape the land and life forsake To bind with chains and richer make To gain foul wealth from what you take Trading in flesh from people bold To swap for silver, copper, gold No right of freedom when they're sold To run away brings death stone cold Discovering flesh through ebon plight With lash of whip and black of night Degrading chains and cry of fright Flesh abused takes right through might Purchasing flesh through conquers' quest Take what you need and leave the rest Their life is given so you are blest To live your life and build your nest Wrenched from home they loved and knew Taken from their families too Discovering flesh the white men do To bind and sell because of hue Discovering flesh when will they learn That to the land the slaves will yearn That one day they'll rise up - return And you will find in hell you burn Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. You took a difficult challenge, and far and away blew the competition to dust... this speaks of humanity at its weakest, and humanity, regained... Kethry. Please, be proud of this piece, submit it to the main site, and submit it to publishers. Now. |

wow..you certainly took that line and turned it around...but...wow... this is a very serious piece here kethry...the idea of slavery--someone thinking they are better than someone else in such a manner, thinking they can OWN another human being just because he looks different on the outside....it makes my blood boil! it makes me so angry i could spit! *sigh*..well done my friend...you put words together that i could not... and ...challenge well met too! hugs, g ~dgvarner/fallen rain~ |

Keth - Really powerful writing here. I don't know what to say, for your words say it all. They speak the truth and they speak it very well. Excellent writing. Dave |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Kethry, this is sooooooo heartbreaking, my heart goes out to all these slaves of the world, I know how difficult it must have been to write this, for slavery has always been something I've wished to end so very much! (BIG HUGGGSSSSSS) I join you in your prayers that slavery will end and we can all be free and respected, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a loving and compassionate heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Powerful writing Keth. I could feel the strength of emotion as I read. I don't know what the challenge was, but now I'm curious! Enjoyed. |

Keth... powerful words!! I know how I missed this one... I was asleep as it fell down the list of pages..... I am glad I went looking for something to read.... The sad part is that this practice hasn't disappeared in this modern day and age... people are still exploited because they look different ... And I agree.... this needs to be submitted for publication... I hope in replying that its visibility increased and it is read some more. Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow. |

Kethry, thank you for this,it really touches my heart. My Father in Law's family were slaves here is Australia. Only the government called it opportunity. They, the Kanakas, were brought here to work the cane, with the promise of return home after a season. They were never returned. The sad part is that it was only three generations ago, not hundreds of years. I agree....submit this. Dee I wish you every happiness and may you always have the best of the good things in life. a brand |
