Corporate Personalities

The Corporate Zoo

Pull up a chair and watch the show
As we tour the corporate zoo.
Cages are replaced by desks in a row,
So pull up a chair and watch the show.
Rumors are rampant and the stories grow;
The most preposterous passes for true.
Just pull up a chair and watch the show
As we tour the corporate zoo.

The Corporate Witch

Do not complain; do not explain;
To succeed as a corporate witch.
You must memorize this refrain:
“Do not complain; do not explain.”
You must avoid emotional drain,
On feelings, simply flip the switch.
Do not complain; do not explain;
To succeed as a corporate witch.

The Corporate Drone

You’ve just been paged by the corporate drone;
All creativity will be prevented.
You’re stuck, too late to hang up the phone.
You’ve just been paged by the corporate drone.
The sound you hear is a low monotone.
All hope for production will be circumvented.
You’ve just been paged by the corporate drone.
All creativity will be prevented.

The Corporate Bore

I was trapped by the corporate bore.
He had me by the buttonhole,
Caught, couldn’t reach the door.
I was trapped by the corporate bore.
My eyes glaze while he tells me more,
Holding forth, until he drains my soul.
I was trapped by the corporate bore.
He had me by the buttonhole.

Good to see you in Open!
I used to be a part of the corporate scene, paid well, but little else.  So I understand your sentiment completely.
Your perspective, I enjoyed!

Thanks, Everyone, for your comments and encouragement.

Yeah, Sunshine, this is fun!  Thanks for introducing me to these pages.

Duncan, good to hear from you. Where have you been?

Sven, thank you for your remarks.  There are so many personalities in the corporate workplace that this could be the start of a book.  I'm open to suggestions in case there are any stereotypes that I have overlooked.
I found that the best way to deal with corporate stress was to pull up a chair and watch the show!

Oh boy ... you've got me smiling here Bridget. I can mix and match several of these and cover quite a few people I've known.  Scary thing was ... I went back for a second read to try to make sure I couldn't see "myself" in any of these!   This was great, really enjoyed each description, well done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I like seeing these all together as a composite... Sort of a quatriolet... Ya think?

Nice work, Bridget..
