Laying, resting, settling my thoughts
Picturing "It only takes two" in my mind.
The twoness of loving, the give and the take.
When I am with you, it's two they will find.

In the mirror I see, the other of me
My twin, not of birth but of heart.
It only takes two, when our eyes smile in meet,
Never can we be apart.

When I'm incomplete, in the absence of you
And I see you walking in line
with arms stretched out to hug and to greet
It only takes two, yours to mine.

Two to team up, a couple to make
to pair, to duet and sing.
Like the time we were playing and I needed a push,
It only takes two to swing.

Two to bet, to make a deal,
Two ones to make up a two,
To balance a scale, to cross a path
to multiply, it only takes two.

Tonight I divided my time in half,
so two poems I could write.
I hear someone calling in stereo,
It only takes two times...so goodnight.
