Celebrating Sybil
for my friend, jellybeans (revised March 2002)

I can’t recall when you entered my life... didn’t know what you’d come to mean
For days or weeks or maybe months, you were another name on the screen.
I’m slow to open up sometimes and didn’t immediately segue
To appreciating your goodness. You were completely out of my league!
I was an overweight shadow, you were a sexy woman with wiles
But it wasn’t that tough for even me to see you needed to share in smiles.
Your poems showed great talent but ached with heartbreak and loss -
It was obvious somewhere down the line you’d paid a very high cost.
You longed to fly love’s wings to freedom but were caught in a keyless cage;
I cringed at the unfairness when your keeper erupted in rage.
What you shared most of your off-screen life was your pride and dearest joy
I came to love your "little one" and delight in that precious boy.
It seemed we lived our lives parallel... together we sought a little hope
And we learned to lean on each other as we struggled just to cope.
We watched dreams shatter and turn to dust, disintegrate before our eyes
But we weren’t alone in the darkness - a friend shared our tears, heard our cries.
Our heroes may have departed, but they linger held in our hearts
We falter down life’s pathway, facing many more stops than starts.
Your talent for writing has blossomed, you superbly write anger and pain
And we both pray that we’ll each live to know happiness once again.
To love someone is to share their pain, but you are worth every ache -
You’re my sister of the heart; I’d walk through fire for your sake.

Thru the sharing of our words we find our reflection in anothers verses...and forge bonds that distance cant deter...
as Sy so wisely once said..."Touchless Touch"
this poems strongest merit is its heartfelt sincerety.
A lovely tribute to friendship Ruth-girlie.

Balladeer: From your mouth to God's ears, right?? LOL How I wish... sigh. Thank you so much, dear friend... and since I can't hug you (dern distance! *G*) I'll hug your awesome comments all day long. *S* Thank you!

M'toe Angel: Thank you for such a sweet reply. *S* Anyone knowing me from way back when might find it hard to believe that our closeness came about after she'd been flirting rather outrageously with Toerag... for I was pretty vigilant with the baseball bat I carried to protect my place as number one in his fan line. *S* But they had me laughing so hard I dropped the bat and embraced a friend... Now any knife has to come from the front, cause that gal watches my back! *S*

doreen: Time moving on hurts... and I sure do miss absent friends. *S* But time spent caring is never wasted. *S* Thank you so much... and I agree - she is one of the best! *S*

Pilgrimage: Thank you. *S* Over the past year, I've faced "worst" several times... but never had to face it alone. *S* That's priceless.

JM: I sincerely love the gal... you mean it shows??? LOL  Thank you so much.

peaches:  Leaning against each other, we've managed to keep standing. *S* Thank you!

Seymour: I'm glad, sweet man. *S* Your enjoyment means much to me... thank you!

Victoria: I'm so glad you enjoyed. *S* It's definitely worth the effort to read her work... she's superb. *S* But bear in mind that I call her Sybil for a reason. LOL. Her screen name has changed several times... but a search on Iloveit and corazon will give you an idea of her depth. *S*

Startime: Your reply touches me deeply. *S* I thank you for it so very much! Glad you enjoyed. *S*

Martie: Just don't make that salute one-fingered... 'kay??? LOL Thank you so much... I'm glad you liked. *S*

ah. . . now this is what I call a poem. . . from the heart and with words that make people stop and go, "I wish I could do that. . . "

superb job my friend. . .

jellybeans: The one I emailed was to acknowledge the sadness this day brings and let you know you’re in my thoughts... this one celebrates my buddy. *S* Neither was meant to cause tears... but I’m so glad you like them. *S* LOL at megaphone... why don’t we buy him his own public address system and crank up the volume... just to make sure??? *G* Love you bunches, lady... always.

Marge: Not to worry... it’s not fatal. LOL I know... your poems often leave me in just such a state. *G* And by the way... I’ve still got that bat... just in case Toe drops in and gals start getting ideas. LOL

Mysteria: I know for sure I’ll treasure her forever. *S* Thank you so much!

Sven: Your kind comments are greatly appreciated. *S* Thank you very much!
