Do honeybee’s fall in love
While buzzin’ round a lily
You know that they can’t feel
The whole concept is really silly

The hummingbird may flutter but
Does she feel the pangs of devotion
I’ve never heard of a single bird
Who can taste of love’s emotion

Does a kitten feel the stroke
Of her mother’s cleansing tongue
Does any animal feel the love
Of a mother for her young?

If they can feel than is it just me
Do I lack what they possessed?
Why can the lowly worm love when
My heart is frozen within my breast?

All around me there are the signs
That love has found all my friends
I struggle each day to be happy for them
And still my mind never comprehends

Don’t cry for me, don’t show me pity
I’m used to the void of darkness
No voice, no feeling, no touch I feel
No passion left to confess

(BIG HUGGGSSSSSSS) Oh Sharon, I can feel sadness behind your words, I too used to feel all that love all the time when I was younger and no one ever loved me and I too always envied that sight and wondered if I was just born to not be loved while they all would find love! (kiss on cheek) My heart goes out to you, sweet friend, I hope now you have found true happiness and now you share loves joy with everyone else in celebration, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Poet deVine~

I think the only birds I have ever known to "feel love" is the Canada Geese, they actually mate for life....ramble, ramble, I found this reading haunting, but so nicely done, as I can so relate....peace to you...

It isn't pity I offer, but humanity...yes, I feel for you and I don't apologize for that.  I found this poem very interesting, as I've always wondered the same thing in just how much or how, and incect or animal can feel...WHAT they can feel.  I'm convinced that though animals can't feel love, they can feel emotions similar to that and they can also feel a certain devotion...thank you for this.  Very well written and thought provoking, to be sure.

Thank you for your kind comments. I was in a rut and a phrase came to me - the line about the honeybee - so this was my 'coming out of a block' poem!

I do think they fall in love. And as for kittens..I have seen them  snuggle closer to their moms..so sweet!
Your poem is beautiful, thought-provoking and...and...WOW!

Such sad thoughts here, you express yourself well and I can relate.

Poet deVine, I'd like to think that everything out there feels love. Maybe it's just me but that's the way I like to think of it. Just as you are loved... this is an emotional write, but it's excellent. I hope you continue to feel all the love here for you. This really touched me. Be well!
