Lake Michigan Sunset

Our boat sails softly
heeling to starboard
gentle zephyrs barely filling the sails

the clouds hang low, as evening dawns
the sound of quiet
interrupted only by the waves lapping at our bow
in the distance, the lighthouse beams it's presence on the calm waters

whispers of sky blue purple embroider roseate clouds
as the gentle evening breeze slowly brings us to port
majestic mauve streaks surround us
arcing across the bountiful maritime horizon
closing the curtains on another balmy day

we are caught in the majesty
as twilight dances her celestial ballet
words cannot describe this moment
though in vain, I seek them

Lyra,
Having lived near Lake Michigan for five years...wow did I like this. And if words aren't adequate these sure came close! Thanks for the memories.

Well, with the Aussie summer freezing out tushes off. It sure was nice to get this breath of fresh air. Good poem.

(sigh) Oh Lyra, I don't know why, but this poem made em feel lovesick as I read it, for I too long for the summer so much so I may be with the girl of my dreas and I can share warm peaceful evenings like this with her! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is one of my favorites of yours, I'm adding this to my library! YAY!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Can I go too???

This is awesome...love the picture and how
you described it....Reminds me a little bit
of when I used to be in the Navy and we
would be slowly moving across the ocean in
a calm sea at sunset or with the stars
overhead filling the sky...
